2022 champion and world No.4 Belinda will return to the low country in 2026. Bencic, who rose over 400 spots in this year’s WTA rankings in a season that saw her win two titles and reach the Wimbledon final after returning from maternity leave, made her initial debut in Charleston in 2014.

Bencic, 28, was named the WTA’s Comeback Player of the Year in 2025.

The Swiss reached back-to-back finals appearances against Ons Jabeur, culminating in her championship win in 2022. The Credit One Charleston Open will take place from March 28–April 5, 2026.

2021 Olympic Gold medalist Bencic has already been joined by World No. 6 Jessica Pegula, World No. 7 Madison Keys, and World No. 15 Emma Navarro in the field.

Bencic has played Charleston eight times, compiling an 18–7 career record on the green clay. She made her initial splash in 2014, reaching the semifinals as a teenager.
