The agreement was approved earlier in the day by the University of Louisville Athletic Association.
“Over the past three seasons, Jeff has clearly demonstrated that he is the right person to lead our football program, now and into the future,” Heird said. “He understands what it means to represent the University of Louisville on the field and in this community. Jeff is building a culture rooted in accountability, development, and competitive excellence. I am confident in the direction of our program and excited about what the future holds under his leadership.”
Brohm, who took the helm of the program in 2023, has guided the Cardinals to a 28-12 record over his first three seasons, the second-best mark over a three-year span in program history. The Louisville native led the program to its first appearance in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game in 2023 and has secured bowl victories over Washington and Toledo in each of the past two seasons.
Brohm becomes only the second coach in school history to win nine or more games in three consecutive seasons.

Known for his detailed game planning and ability to prepare his teams at a high level, Brohm has recorded three wins over Top 15 opponents during his tenure. In his first season, Louisville defeated No. 10 Notre Dame at L&N Stadium in 2023 before following that up with the program’s first-ever win over No. 11 Clemson at Death Valley in 2024. During the 2025 season, Louisville earned the highest-ranked road win in program history with a 24-21 victory over No. 2 Miami at Hard Rock Stadium.
“I’m grateful for the trust placed in me by President Bradley, Athletic Director Josh Heird, and our Board,” Brohm said. “I also want to thank our loyal and passionate fans for all their support over the years. This extension reflects the dedication and commitment of our players and staff. We’ve made meaningful progress the past three seasons, and we look forward to continuing to pursue higher goals. We are committed to putting in the work that is necessary to consistently compete for championships and play an exciting brand of football. We are proud of where we are but even more excited for the future that lies ahead.”
The 2026 campaign will mark Brohm’s fourth season at Louisville and his 13th season as a head coach. He owns a 94-56 career coaching record with previous stops at Western Kentucky (2014–16) and Purdue (2017–22). Across his head coaching career, Brohm has guided his teams to eight or more wins in eight seasons, highlighted by 12 wins at Western Kentucky in 2015 and 10-win campaigns at Western Kentucky in 2016 and Louisville in 2023.
Brohm has taken both his Louisville (2023) and Purdue (2022) squads to league title games and owns a 6-2 all-time mark during the bowl season.
