Davon Smith is a three-star linebacker from Houston, Texas, but he’s all in on what’s going down in Tucson, Arizona, with the Arizona Wildcats.
Smith committed to head coach Brent Brennan and the Wildcats on Wednesday.
He was also highly considering either the LSU Tigers or the Utah Utes.
There’s something about what Brennan is building at Arizona that appealed to Smith, though.
In his first season as head coach in Tucson, Brennan went 4-8. He retooled, and the Wildcats went 9-4 last season with an appearance in the Holiday Bowl.
Smith believes in the vibes around the program, which led to him announcing his commitment to Arizona.
“What’s exciting me about Arizona is the culture. It really means something to everyone in the building,” Smith told Rivals regarding his decision. “This place is truly special. I also love their defensive scheme and I see myself being able to ball out playing in Coach (Danny) Gonzales’s defense.”
