Kyle Teel‘s leadoff home run turned out to be the high point of a dour day on the farm. The Knights, Dash, and Cannon Ballers all fell, while rain postponed the Barons and Caleb Bonemer‘s AA debut.

Among the sparse highlights, Michael Turner, Nolan Jones, and Kaleb Freeman all went deep, while the DSL White Sox rapped out 12 hits in a narrow win.

All this and more in today’s farm report!

Triple-A Charlotte Knights (38-32)

Kyle Teel opened his rehab stint with a home run, the second time this year the catcher has homered in his first rehab game. It wasn’t enough for the Knights on Tuesday, as they fell 9-5 to the Buffalo Bisons. Nolan Jones went deep for the first time with Charlotte, and Michael Turner slugged a home run of his own in the loss. All five of the Knights’ runs came via the trio of homers.

Noah Schultz struggled in his first rehab outing. The lanky lefty surrendered two runs and walked three over just 1.2 innings on the mound. Four of the five outs he recorded came via the strikeout.

Rikuu Nishida (2B): 2-for-5, 2B, R

Kyle Teel (C): 2-for-3, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI

Michael Turner (DH): 1-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI

Double-A Birmingham Barons (24-39)

Rain postponed Birmingham’s opener against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. A double header is now in order for Wednesday, with first pitch for game one set at 4:05 CT.

High-A Winston-Salem Dash (36-28)

The Dash played the North Division-leading Greensboro Grasshoppers close through seven innings before ultimately falling 4-1 in the series opener. Kaleb Freeman launched his sixth homer of the season to tie the game at 1 in the fourth, but that was the only run that Winston-Salem got.

James Taussig picked up a hit in the loss, and is now slashing .364/.481/.909 with three home runs and three doubles in six games since earning a promotion to A+. The undrafted free agent owns a .962 OPS across 48 total games since being signed by the Sox.

On the mound, Liam Paddack held the Grasshoppers in check, allowing just one run over four innings of work.

Kyle Lodise (SS): 1-for-4, BB

Ryan Burrowes (3B): 0-for-3, BB

Kaleb Freeman (DH): 1-for-3, HR, R, RBI, BB

Single-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (32-32)

A four-run third inning from the Fayetteville Woodpeckers sank the Cannon Ballers on Tuesday, with Kannapolis dropping the contest 6-3. A Matthew Boughton double and Derek Cerda single had the Ballers up 2-0 in the third, but the Woodpeckers answered back with a crooked number to take a lead that they never relinquished.

Among the Ballers’ six hits, Jurdrick Profar laced his first double with the Ballers. The infielder looks comfortable after making the jump from the Arizona Complex League, and is 3-for-7 (.429) at the plate across his first two games with Kannapolis.

Derek Cerda (RF): 1-for-3, RBI, BB

ACL White Sox (10-23)

Wikelman González and Christian Oppor each struggled Tuesday as the ACL Brewers dominated the ACL White Sox 8-0. González, rehabbing with the rookie-ball club, gave up a two-run home run in the opening frame, while Oppor continued to struggle with command in the loss.

The offense managed just three hits in the loss. Christian Gonzalez and Marcelo Alcala each doubled, and D’Angelo Tejada added a single.

Marcelo Alcala (CF): 1-for-3, 2B

FINAL: ACL Brewers 8, White Sox 0 | Box Score

DSL White Sox (4-8)

The DSL White Sox got back into the win column with a 7-6 nailbiter over DSL Miami. The Sox fell behind 3-0 before Sebastian Romero drilled a two-run triple and Orlando Patino notched an RBI single to tie the game in the third inning. Miami jumped back ahead before the Sox scored four unanswered runs to re-take the lead for good.
