Celtics injury report reveals two stars could miss Game 4 against Magic

ORLANDO — The Celtics will be without Jrue Holiday on Sunday as they look to take a 3-1 lead against the Orlando Magic. They could also be without Jaylen Brown, who has been dealing with a right knee posterior impingement since mid-February.

Brown, who missed regular season games tending to the knee injury, is questionable with the injury, and will likely go through warmups as he did on Friday. He sat out the final three games of the regular season before receiving knee injections ahead of the playoffs.

When asked about re-appearing on the injury report after Friday’s 95-93 loss, Brown simply said: “[I’m] taking it one day at a time.”

Through three first-round playoff games, Brown is averaging 23.7 points on 53.2% shooting, while shooting 54.5% from three.

What we know about Jrue Holiday’s injury

Holiday, who missed Game 3 with a right hamstring strain, didn’t warm up on Friday and was listed as out on the Celtics’ injury report, which came out on Saturday afternoon. The Celtics guard was in street clothes on the bench. It’s not clear when exactly he suffered the injury, as he was able to finish Game 2 without a noticeable limp.

Mazzulla declined to share much information when asked about Holiday’s injury ahead of Game 3, simply noting that he was day-to-day and would go through his testing ahead of any update.

In a media availability on Saturday morning, Derrick White said that everyone will have to step up in Holiday’s absence.

“Obviously, you can’t replace what Jrue Holiday brings on both sides of the ball — so everybody has a little bit different role and responsibility on both sides,” White said.

Holiday was impactful on both ends in the first two rounds of the playoffs against the Magic, averaging 10 points per game and shooting 42.9% from three, while guarding Magic star Paolo Banchero.
