After yesterday’s surprising win, today was arguably the best pitching matchup of the series for the Dodgers even if it was Blake Snell rehabbing. Unfortunately, things went about as poorly as possible for Snell from a result standpoint and the offense was shut down and then gave up in a 7-2 loss.

Blake Snell’s return from the IL started about as poorly as possible for him, as he broke a bat that found a hole for a single, issued a full-count walk, and then gave up a dribbler in front of the plate for another single that loaded the bases.
Snell then took matters into more of his own hands, recording a strikeout, inducing a softly hit grounder for an out that did plate a run, and then getting another strikeout to prevent a crooked number. 1-0 Braves but could’ve been worse.

It did get worse in the 2nd, as two more soft one-out singles started a rally, then with two outs a walk loaded things up, and a borderline comical single led to two runs. At least the single that followed after a passed ball was actually hit hard for once, and that plated two more for a four-spot and a 5-0 Braves lead.

Snell barely made it through three but … I mean he looked fine: 3 IP, 6 H, 5 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 5 K, 77 Pitches.
Prior to Olson’s rocket single, the fives singles Snell allowed were hit at 75.3, 40.2, 66.9, 70.8, and 83.9 (this one was hit like an inch off the ground). Rough rehab start.

Well, Snell’s velo was good and he got 16 whiffs. Baseball is baseball. As long as he comes out of it healthy.

The main negative is the pen had to cover six innings.
Jack Dreyer got four outs, then Edgardo Henriquez got five more but did allow a run to make it 6-0 Braves. Paul Gervase then made his season debut for the Dodgers, giving them three innings and allowing just a run to make it 7-0 Braves.

That was basically game, as the struggling Spencer Strider had no issues with the Dodgers, giving up just a single and two walks through six innings.
They then kinda just gave up by putting the reserves in, and their pen got three innings.
The Dodgers did prevent a shutout in the 9th thanks to an Alex Call double and Andy Pages hitting his ninth homer to make it 7-2.
