The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win in the series opener on Tuesday night with a 7-2 win. They will look to keep their winning ways going against the Colorado Rockies this evening and with one win in the bag already, another one tonight can guarantee a series victory. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm ET tonight.
Starting Lineups
Starting Pitchers
Brandon Williamson
It’s been an inconsistent season thus far for the lefty. He’s battled control in all of his games but one and he’s walked more batters than he’s struck out this season. In two of his starts, though, he’s kept runs to a minimum.
Teams have been hesitant to put left-handed batters in the lineup against Williamson, but the guys who have gotten a chance to face him have found plenty of success. Half of their four hits have left the yard. Right-handed hitters have walked a bunch, but they haven’t hit for much average or much power against him.

Tomoyuki Sugano
In four of his five starts this season with the Rockies, Sugano has given up one or two runs. The Dodgers scored five runs in just four innings against him two weeks ago in his lone sub par start.
Last season was Sugano’s first in MLB and he spent it with the Baltimore Orioles. Keep that in mind when looking at his splits as they didn’t come in Denver half of the time. Right-handed hitters and left-handed hitters had very similar results when it comes to hitting for average and getting on base. Lefties hit for a bit more power, though, giving them an overall advantage at the plate against him.

News and Notes
Luis Mey called up
Prior to today’s game the Reds called up reliever Luis Mey from Triple-A and placed Graham Ashcraft on the bereavement list. We wrote a little bit about how Mey has been performing this season with the Bats here when the transactions were announced. For the quick recap: He has a 4.91 ERA in 11.0 innings with three walks and 14 strikeouts.
Updates on Nick Lodolo and Hunter Greene
Lodolo is going to be making another rehab start, this time with Triple-A Louisville on Saturday. Greene has upped his long toss distance in his rehab out in Arizona as he’s taking the next step on his path back from having bone spurs cleaned up in his elbow. We’ve got a few more details on both guys here if you wanted a little more of a deep dive.
