The Kansas City Royals managed a comfortable 6-3 victory against the Texas Rangers this afternoon, boosting the team’s Spring Training record to 6-4 as the boys in blue pursue the Cactus League championship.
Daniel Lynch IV started the game for the Royals and performed admirably. Lynch tossed three scoreless innings and only allowed one baserunner while striking out a pair. With today’s performance, Lynch has lowered his Spring Training ERA to a cool 1.29.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Royals poured in some power. The team hit for the cycle, with multiple hitters notching a single while Bobby WItt Jr., MJ Melendez, and Nick Pratto hit a double, triple, and home run, respectively.
As I noted in the game thread, Pratto really needs to play well this spring to convince the Royals to keep him on the 40-man roster. A home run helps his case.
Noah Cameron pitched the final three innings of the game as he, too, is in pursuit of a roster spot. While Cameron struck out three, he also gave up four hits and allowed a pair of runs to score in the ninth inning, so a mixed bag there.
Tomorrow, the Royals have an off day and will have three more games before their first split squad outing on Saturday.
