Caleb Bonemer seems to be fitting right in with the Barons. The Sox No. 1 prospect went deep again on Thursday and now has three homers in his last five games.
Elsewhere on the farm, starting pitching continued to look strong across the upper minors. For the second day in a row, the Knights, Barons, and Dash all had their starters allow two or fewer earned runs. Despite this, only the Knights walked away victorious.
Also throughout the system, Riley Unroe went deep twice in his second game with the organization, Connor McCullough struck out seven across four scoreless innings, and Tim Elko made his first appearance of the season.
All this and more in today’s farm report!
Triple-A Charlotte Knights (48-42)
No more Murakami? No problem for the Knights. Riley Unroe, playing in his second game with the team, launched a pair of homers in a 9-2 win over the Nashville Sounds.
Unroe was one of three Knights to go deep in a six-run first. Nolan Jones drilled a three-run shot and Andy Weber tacked on a two-run homer in the inning. Unroe added another home run in the fifth to put the Knights ahead 8-2.
Pitching sparkled in the win. Jonathan Cannon allowed two runs over five innings of work, while Tanner McDougal worked a perfect inning, and Duncan Davitt struck out five over three scoreless frames to pick up his first save of the season.

Double-A Birmingham Barons (31-53)
Caleb Bonemer’s fourth homer with the Barons wasn’t enough to lift the team over the Columbus Clingtones. In fact, Bonemer’s solo shot was the only offense Birmingham got in its 7-1 loss. Anthony DePino picked up his second triple of the season in the loss.
The Barons actually led 1-0 after five innings, but Columbus tagged the bullpen for seven runs across the sixth and seventh innings. The implosion wasted a strong, albeit short, start from Connor McCullough, who fanned seven over four shutout innings.

Alex Ungar doubled the Dash lead with a solo homer in the second, while Bryce Eblin and Jeral Perez picked up RBI in the third and fourth, respectively.
