Wednesday was a tough day down on the farm, with only the Dash walking away winners.

Through the day’s five games, Hagen Smith punched out seven in a rain-suspended affair, three Ballers teed off against the Augusta GreenJackets, and Jack Young closed out a Dash win with his first save of the season.

All this and more in today’s minor league recap!

Triple-A Charlotte Knights (27-25)

The Knights saw their contest against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp suspended due to rain in the bottom of the fifth. Despite the rain, Hagen Smith still looked sharp, punching out seven while allowing two runs and walking just one over five frames. The game is set to resume Thursday at 4:30 ET.

When the game picks back up, the teams will be tied at 2, with Charlotte’s runs coming courtesy of a Korey Lee 2-run homer.

Junior Perez (CF): 1-for-2, R, K

Korey Lee (C): 1-for-2, HR, R, 2 RBI

Ryan Galanie (DH): 0-for-1, BB, SB

Caden Connor (LF): 0-for-1, BB

Mario Camilletti (3B): 0-for-1, BB

Hagen Smith (SP): 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, 7 K

Double-A Birmingham Barons (17-29)

Simply put, Wednesday was not Birmingham’s night. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos, playing as the Seagulls, turned the Rickwood Classic into a farce with a 23-4 demolition of Birmingham’s pitching.

Starter Connor McCullough surrendered 8 runs, Mark McLaughlin gave up 7 in relief, and Eric Adler allowed 5 in the ninth.

The team still had a decent showing at the plate, scoring 4 runs on 11 hits. Alec Makarewicz continued his strong season with a first-inning homer, his 12th of the season. Drake Logan, Colby Shelton, and Juan Gonzalez all doubled in the loss.

Jordan Sprinkle (SS): 1-for-4, R, RBI

Colby Shelton (2B): 1-for-3, 2B, RBI, BB, HBP

Alec Makarewicz (1B): 2-for-5, HR, R, RBI

Carson Jacobs (RP): 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K

FINAL: Pensacola Blue Wahoos 23, Barons 4 | Box Score
