The 2028 Los Angeles Olympic basketball competition will begin on July 12, 2028, two days before the opening ceremony on July 14.
It is not clear whether the men’s or women’s tournament, or both competitions, will kick off on that date.
“This adjustment allows the quarterfinals to be played over two days and will also ensure that no game will start earlier than (noon), enhancing the overall experience for players, teams, fans and broadcasters,” announced FIBA in a press release.
A preliminary schedule released last month showed three games on both July 12 and July 13.
The bronze medal games are scheduled for July 28 and July 29. The gold medal games are scheduled for July 29 and July 30.
