College hoops standout Aaliyah Chavez has shared her first-ever Nike Basketball PE – and it won’t be her last. The #1 recruit has fully lived up to expectations at Oklahoma during her freshman campaign, tying the SEC record by earning Freshman of the Week honors eight times. Her well-rounded skill set can be traced back to The Lab, a private training facility in Lubbock, Texas owned and operated by her father, Sonny. Fittingly, it’s The Lab that serves as the inspiration behind her first Nike Basketball shoe.
Made to match The Lab’s colorful branded hoodie (pictured below), Chavez’s debut PE is a Kobe 9 Elite Low featuring vibrant dollops of pink, green, purple, and yellow across the lower half. The Swooshes and Mamba logos appear in orange, while the majority of the upper comes in black Flyknit.
Nike signed Chavez to an NIL deal before the start of her freshman season, and she figures to be a top priority when it comes to PEs throughout her college career. Oklahoma Basketball is aligned with Jordan Brand, but it appears there’s a truce in play that allows Chavez to wear models under the broader Nike Inc. umbrella. She’s stayed loyal to Kobes from a young age and has already been spotted in pairs like the Caitlin Clark Kobe 5 “Indiana Fever” and Kobe 3 Low Protro during her freshman year. Now she’s got one of her very own, and right on time for March Madness.
