Chicago’s favorite son is going up in the rafters. The Chicago Bulls will lift Derrick Rose’s No. 1 into the United Center ceiling on January 24th, officially retiring his jersey while honoring his career, resilience, and immeasurable impact on the city where he was born. Coinciding with an announcement from the franchise outlining the night’s festivities, adidas has revealed details surrounding the Adizero Rose 1 retro created to commemorate the moment.

adidas’ celebration of the youngest MVP in NBA history began on January 4th, officially recognized as D. Rose Day in Chicago by order of the mayor. In partnership with Foot Locker, adidas hosted a special event where fans had the chance to meet Rose, win tickets to the jersey retirement game, and secure early access to the Adizero Rose 1 retro.

Originally released in 2010, the Adizero Rose 1 most recently returned in 2020 for its 10th anniversary. That run included the black and red-accented “Bulls” style, an original colorway now brought back once more in honor of Rose’s well-deserved jersey retirement.

Limited quantities of the sneaker will be available for in-store pickup at Foot Locker locations in Chicago on January 17th. Reservations are already live via the Foot Locker app, with the shoe priced at $130.
