Darius Adams, a McDonald’s All-American and four-star recruit who originally committed to UConn, has committed to Maryland, according to multiple reports.

Adams, a 6-5 guard, was ranked No. 29 in the Class of 2025 by ESPN and was one of three UConn recruits to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game earlier this month.

He announced his de-commitment from UConn after the Huskies landed guards Silas Demary Jr., from Georgia, and Malachi Smith, from Dayton, in the transfer portal. Those two additions likely would have had an impact on Adams’ playing time as a freshman.

The Huskies will also return Solo Ball, Jaylin Stewart and Jayden Ross on the wing.

‘That’s like my brother’: How wide receiver Skyler Bell helped UConn men’s basketball land latest recruit

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play the game I love. After much thought and prayer, I have decided to decommit from the University of Connecticut,” Adams wrote in a social media post after decommiting. “I want to give a huge thank you to the UConn coaching staff and fans; your support has meant the world to me, and I truly appreciate all the love you’ve shown. This was not an easy decision, but I believe it’s the best step for me and my future. With that being said, my recruitment is officially back open, and I’m excited to see what the next chapter holds.”

Adams will play for new Maryland head coach Buzz Williams, the former coach at Marquette and Virginia Tech, who left Texas A&M for the Maryland job this offseason after Terrapins coach Kevin Willard left for Villanova.
