Converse has been teasing that it may debut the second Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shoe during the NBA Playoffs, likely if the Thunder make good on their season-long status as Finals favorites. While we wait to see when the brand’s cryptic teaser comes to life, something more concrete has surfaced: a premium Converse SHAI 001 “Steel” set to release in June.
The official announcement arrives just ahead of OKC’s second-round matchup against LeBron James and the Lakers, a series that should draw plenty of eyes given the star power on both sides. Shai is expected to lace these up tonight for Game 1.

This marks one of a few premium SHAI 001 executions seen so far, following February’s “Truffle” and the upcoming “Ink” pair. The neoprene upper is replaced with all-chrome leather, extending even to details like the typically TPU heel clip.
The Converse SHAI 001 Premium “Steel” is set to release June 11th for $150, landing right in the middle of the NBA Finals. See official images below and check back to our Where to Buy section on release day for purchase links.
