Ex-UConn big Eric Reibe finds new home in transfer portal

Former UConn men’s basketball center Eric Reibe has found a new home. The seven-footer has committed to USC, according to multiple reports.

A native of Germany, Reibe was a top-25 prospect entering last season, and the No. 2 center in the Class of 2025, according to ESPN. He committed to the Huskies despite offers from Kansas, North Carolina and Kentucky, among other schools.

The freshman earned a role as Tarris Reed Jr.’s backup, and averaged 13.8 minutes per game. He put up 5.9 points and grabbed 3.3 rebounds, while shooting 65.8% from the floor and 52.1% from the free-throw line.

Despite what might be considered a successful freshman season, Reibe entered the transfer portal shortly after UConn lost to Michigan in the national championship game.

Reibe reportedly chose USC over Kentucky, among other schools. He’ll play for head coach Eric Musselman. The Trojans finished 18-14 this past season, 7-13 in the Big Ten.

UConn has been active in the transfer portal so far this offseason, bringing in former Seton Hall big man Najai Hines and ex-Duke guard Nikolas Khamenia.
