With Gen Z athletes taking over as the sports world’s most recognizable faces, their fluency in the digital world has begun to manifest in how signature basketball shoes first reach our desk. Ja Morant is the most visible example, piloting his own “leak” program with social media blasts and a sprawling SLAM cover, but don’t discount Tatum. His strategy is arguably the more “of-the-era,” as a sneak peek at the Tatum 4 with NBA 2K screenshots marked his second time debuting a sneaker within the beloved series.

Official images of the Jordan Tatum 4 hitting Nike servers now makes things tangible, here displayed in Grade School sizing but nonetheless providing our best look at the silhouette so far. Immediately, the wavy design language that’s become a hallmark for Jayson over the course of the previous three models is evident, with the core feature being a series of slits that cut through a suede exterior. For a sentimental flourish, Jayson’s son Deuce places his name on the inside tongue.

On a performance level, foam and textile pods embedded into the midsole are also now something of a trademark, true once again with a perforated oval that bleeds into the midsole here. Multi-directional herringbone traction paces the outsole, and though we’ll stop short of confirming toolings aspects until Nike confirms, you can likely expect the same mix of Cushlon 3.0 and Zoom Air embedded underfoot.

Look for the Jordan Tatum 4 “Siren Red” to hit shelves physical and digital during this Holiday season, retailing for $130 in adult sizing and $100 in the Grade School version featured here. Overall, the model kicks off with a “Green Glow” colorway on October 23rd and a “Black/University Red” following on November 1st.

When he’s not writing, you can find Matt cooking, traveling, attending concerts and when weather permits, on the handball court.
