Nike KD 18 “Skunk Dunk” PE

Kevin Durant hasn’t exactly been shy about how he spends his downtime, famously bonding with David Letterman on how they both have… we’ll call it green thumbs. Further, as one of only a handful of Nike athletes ever to be given a lifetime deal, he’s shown love for the Swoosh’s formulations far beyond simply his signature line, spotted in Nike SB Dunks like the “Chunky Dunky” or “Grateful Dead” during the model’s pandemic-era golden age.

Some five years later, Durant’s dual proclivities collided, as the newly minted Houston Rocket pulled out a “Skunk”-style edition of his Nike KD 18 as his squad felled the Memphis Grizzlies. Though hairy suede is an unorthodox choice for hardwood performance wear, the Slim Reaper’s version utilizes it in an all-around faithful adaptation of the now-iconic 4/20 release, pinning royal purple below those hazy overtones. Speckled midsoles break from the source material with their smoky off-grey hues, but additional colorful speckling does well to tie back to the source material.

As of right now, the Nike KD 18 “Skunk” isn’t expected to hit the market, but the Swoosh’s increasing willingness to turn PEs into public pairs means we can’t entirely rule it out. For now, check out some additional on-court shots below.
