Nike Kobe 5 Protro Dodgers IO6256-400

How nice it must feel to be a Los Angeles Dodgers fan right about now. The reigning MLB World Champions sit comfortably atop the National League West with few real contenders standing in the way of a potential three-peat, a product of the team’s massive payroll and the continued excellence of Japanese phenom Shohei Ohtani.

In the sneaker world, the Dodgers are winners all the same. Kobe Brand is following up last year’s highly sought-after Kobe 6 Protro “Dodgers” with a similar take on the Kobe 5, authoring the next chapter in what could become a full series of Dodgers-inspired releases. Kobe was a noted Dodgers fan during his playing days, and the team has kept that connection alive through giveaways and its annual Lakers Night celebration.

The Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Dodgers” matches the squad’s jerseys with a blue foundational layer, joined by a silver Swoosh with white outlining. The standout detail lives near the heel, where red baseball-inspired stitching runs along the sides. Kobe’s two jersey numbers, 24 and 8, appear on the inner tongue within what look like old box TV graphics.

The Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Dodgers” releases September 8th for $190 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers. Given the popularity of both the Dodgers and Kobe Bryant shoes in general, expect a competitive launch. Most stores will be hosting raffles, which should open a few days before the September 8th date. See official images below and hit our Sneaker Release Dates page to browse more upcoming basketball sneakers.

Speaking of which, the Nike Caitlin 1 debuts October 1st.
