Nike Basketball is bringing a new holiday-inspired chapter to the Kobe line later this year. A first look at the upcoming Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Coals” has appeared, the Christmas-themed release scheduled for the Holiday 2026 season. Rather than celebrating the season’s festive spirit, the colorway draws inspiration from an age-old holiday tradition: naughty children receiving lumps of coal instead of presents on Christmas morning.
The concept feels like a natural extension of the Kobe line’s growing “anti-hero” identity during the holidays; ever since the original Kobe 6 “Grinch” debuted on Christmas Day in 2010, Kobe Bryant’s signature footwear has embraced a more mischievous approach to the season, favoring darker storytelling over traditional and festive color palettes.
That narrative continues here with the Black, Venom Green, and Purple Venom color, with a patterned upper that resembles scattered pieces of coal. The gradient Swoosh transitions from green to purple, adding a subtle burst of color against the otherwise stealthy design. The outsole remains translucent, revealing the green and purple hues underneath.
