OG Anunoby Skechers Timberland PE

Everyone wants in on the New York Knicks’ historic playoff run, especially the sportswear brands that pay top dollar to rep an athlete in the mecca of basketball. While Nike backs Jalen Brunson and AND1 outfits Jose Alvarado, Skechers is hooking OG Anunoby up with a brand new PE you can expect to see on court for Game 3 of the NBA Finals in New York.

The sneaker, officially called the SKX Reign “Foreman,” takes inspiration from wheat-colored Timberland boots, both a symbol of NYC street fashion and the grit that defines the character of Knicks fans. The Knicks adopted a new tradition under Mike Brown this season, awarding a hard hat, work-site vest, and pair of Timberland 6″ Boots to the Defensive Player of the Game after wins. As one of the best defensive wings in the NBA and a crucial cog in the Knicks’ defensive scheme, OG has been a common selection; he earned NBA All-Defensive Second Team honors this year, though we’d argue he got robbed of a first team nod.

Buttery yellow synthetics lay the foundation, while yellow and red rope cables around the heel make the Timberland connection blatant. The heel and Skechers logos come in black, while gum traction lands at the heel portion of the outsole. There’s even a hang-tag with NYC and OG, mimicking the suede hang-tags seen on the street and job-site staple.

This headline comes just days after OG gifted Martha Stewart his game-worn pair after she complimented them on social media. Props to Skechers for meeting this historic NYC moment with the marketing push it deserves.
