Paul George’s Philadelphia 76ers season receives brutal grading from former LA Clippers teammates, ‘It was a…’

Former Los Angeles Clippers drop verdict on Paul George’s first season with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Paul George has officially been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 NBA season due to multiple injuries he has battled throughout the campaign.

Considering it was a highly anticipated debut season with the Philadelphia 76ers and he ended up playing in just 41 games, it was undoubtedly a disappointing start to his new chapter.

Keeping in mind that George is already 34 years old and is on a humongous four-year, $211 million deal should be enough to rub salt on the 76ers’ wounds.

Lou Williams grades Paul George’s season

George’s former Los Angeles Clippers teammate Lou Williams recently shared his honest thoughts on the 9x NBA All-Star’s injury-riddled season for the 76ers.

“It was a tough run for PG, I got to give it an F. It’s an F because we started this season with championship aspirations for this group and Paul George was that piece that they brought in to get them over that hump,” Williams said.

He added: “With injuries, with everything that was going on collectively, I think it affected the way that he played and the way that he went about business. He just didn’t have his best run.”

While dealing with his own injuries, George saw his supposed star teammate, Joel Embiid, barely show up on the court. However, after a disappointing early end to the season, there is still one silver lining about PG13’s debut season.

“The positive about it is, now he understands what Philadelphia is about. So, I look forward to him getting back healthy, get himself back in position to be respected as the Paul George we’ve grown accustomed to.”

Danny Green has a slightly different take on Paul George

While Williams didn’t hesitate to give an F to George’s short season in Philly, Danny Green had a somewhat different take on it.

“As a unit, collectively, it’s an F, but individually when he played, I wouldn’t give him an F. He had moments where he didn’t look bad. I’d give him a D+ or a C- as an individual.

“But people were expecting B+ Paul George, at least. He’s supposed to be alongside Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. When you don’t have those guys there, it’s harder for him to perform.

“He wasn’t expected to be the iso guy or the main option. He came in to be a third option.”

In 41 contests, George averaged just 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game for the 76ers. He did shoot 43.0% from the field and 35.8% from the three-point line.

But those numbers are still too low for a player earning nearly $50 million this season. Speaking of the 76ers, they currently have a 23-45 record as they will soon head into the offseason in hopes of landing a good lottery pick in the draft.

Paul George didn’t meet expectations in year one with the 76ers because he never expected to be Philly’s number one option 😳
