The Converse SHAI 001 Lux “Truffle” Launches Globally On February 26th

Made for the NBA’s current style king, the first Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shoes arrived with sky-high expectations. A cookie-cutter hoops model wouldn’t cut it. It had to be different, fashionable, and undeniably Shai, something the reigning MVP ensured by bringing his own sketches to Converse’s design meetings.

For the Converse SHAI 001, this past NBA All-Star Weekend was something of an era demarcation point. Not only are we getting the first patterned design in the SHAI 001 “Camo,” but Shai and co. also unveiled a premium version dubbed the SHAI 001 Lux, arriving in a monotone brown “Truffle” colorway. The shoe’s neoprene exterior is here replaced by premium grain nubuck leather, buttery-soft to the touch. That same nubuck extends onto the midsole, covering the TPU structure spanning the heel. It’s still a hoops shoe at the end of the day, but logic suggests off-court wear is just as much a priority in this case.
