The Jordan Heir Series 2 Captures Its Own “Birds Of Paradise”

The NBA season has, at maximum, a handful of games left, but fret not. Rather than go into full roundball remission, the WNBA will be picking up steam just as the men’s league exits stage right, culminating in the WNBA All-Star Game in mid-July. While we can’t credibly claim that the same level of marketing dollars will go to Chicago as Los Angeles saw, Jordan Brand seems to be plotting something all the same.

The Jordan Heir Series 2, already chalking off a separate WNBA colorway, revisits the concept for a “Birds of Paradise” edition. The W’s trademark orange applies in heavy doses here to the laces and the exterior cage, while a refined mix of cream and black bridges the gap to the gilded branding on the tongues. You’ll need to flip underfoot for the “Birds of Paradise” concept, as exotic florals peek through translucent soles, tied together with jade insoles inside.

The performance shoes featured here are just half of the story; you’ll note the pattern below is identical to the packaging of the similarly titled Air Jordan 4 “Birds of Paradise.” If these are indeed a celebratory version for July’s showcase, it raises the possibility of that pair sharing the same purpose. For several years now, the Jumpman has queued up Retro releases for WNBA All-Star festivities; a desert camo Jordan 3, black/orange Jordan 12, and pink/orange Jordan 5 are some notable recent stops.
