Former Stanford center Oskar Giltay reportedly committed to the UConn men’s basketball team out of the transfer portal on Friday morning, according to a report from On3.
Giltay, 6 feet 10, 235 pounds from Bilzen, Belgium, averaged 3.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 14.6 minutes per game for the Cardinal as a freshman last season. He will likely fill Eric Reibe’s role as the Huskies’ backup center behind Najai Hines, who was added from Seton Hall earlier this month.
Reibe, one of five outgoing UConn transfers, committed to USC on Monday.
Giltay, who visited campus on Wednesday, is the Huskies’ third transfer portal addition of the offseason, joining Hines and former Duke forward Nik Khamenia. All three are potential multiyear transfers heading into their sophomore campaigns.
The Huskies’ newest addition – known for his rebounding and shot-blocking potential – has spent time on the Belgian national team, averaging 10 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.1 blocks in 22.5 minutes per game during the 2024 FIBA U18 EuroBasket tournament. He spent the 2025 season playing for Hubo Limburg United in the BNXT League, the top division in Belgium and the Netherlands, and averaged 6.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
UConn, now with its roster at nine, will still be looking to add a rotational four-man and a backup combo guard before filling out the remaining roster spots with depth pieces.
