UConn and WFSB have agreed on a five-year extension for broadcast rights to some basketball and football games, plus pregame shows, specials and more.
WFSB, WFSB+ and WWAX will deliver an expanded slate of UConn sports programming, according to a press release, including 50 pregame shows hosted by Joe Zone and Erin Connolly. The agreement includes the option to air certain basketball and football games, with details on specific dates and games to be released later.
Programming will also include monthly ‘UConn Unleashed’ specials, which will spotlight teams, athletes and stories from across all of the Huskies’ sports programs. The Eyewitness News team will also be at every UConn football home game, meeting and greeting fans.
“Connecting with communities will always remain central to our mission,” David Hughes, General Manager of Channel 3 WFSB and WWAX said in a release. “UConn Athletics is a source of tremendous pride for the people of Connecticut, and we are thrilled to expand our partnership and bring even more Husky coverage to our viewers.”
“We are excited to build on what has already been a tremendous partnership with WFSB-3 and WWAX,” said UConn athletic director David Benedict. “This expanded agreement means UConn fans across every platform will have greater access to the athletes and programs that make UConn Nation so special. That is a win for our fans and our entire UConn community.”
