Bruce Seldon Jr, son of heavyweight titlist Bruce Seldon, saw action Saturday night in Atlantic City when he squared off against the 4-7-1 Gabriel Costa as part of a Boxing Insider Promotion’s card. A beautiful straight left sent Costa to the mat in the first. Costa gamely got up, but then got sent down and out courtesy of a Seldon body shot. In the end, the whole fight took less than a minute to go from opening to conclusion. “I feel good,” a jubilant Seldon said afterward. “We did what we were supposed to do, get the knockout.”

Next up, the 21-1 Vlad Panin took on the 10-5-1 Brian Arregui  in a scheduled junior middleweight 10 rounder. The first was a feeling out process, as each man worked to land clean on the other. Panin probed with his jab in the second, and was able to put some punches together. He was able to put his punches together again in the third. Arregui, on the other hand, wasn’t able to make much happen for his benefit. The action had to be halted in the fourth when Arregui’s cup became undone and had to be fixed. It had to be fixed again in the fifth. Indeed, the fifth was a fairly close round, but Panin’s jab seemed to tell the tale – though Arregui landed a solid combo at round’s end.

Arregui landed well again at the start of the sixth. He then went on to bang away at his man. While Panin landed some good shots of his own, the chapter looked to belong to Arregui overall. Panin landed in thefight seventh, but it was Arregui who was employing the effective aggression. With that being said, Panin put his speed and effective mobility to good use in the eighth. The ninth was very close, with each fighter taking moments to shine in. The tenth and final round was similar to the ninth, which meant it may have been a hard fight for the judges to call overall.

Ultimately, they ruled in favor of Arregui
