Jake Paul would never step in the ring against a full-blooded world champion heavyweight, predicts promoter Eddie Hearn.
As Paul mentioned a possible fight with Anthony Joshua, even stating his belief he could win, Hearn laughed off the advances.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Hearn believes Paul is using AJ’s name for clout and has no intention of ever trading blows with the Briton.
“Jake Paul is talking about fighting Gervonta Davis, who is 135 pounds. Then on the other hand, he is talking about fighting a 260-pound monster in Anthony Joshua,” Hearn pointed out to Fight Hub TV.
“Listen, he is crazy enough to do it all if the money’s right, probably. We are certainly not basing our career around a potential fight with Jake Paul.
“But if we were offered it, why not? It would be such an easy night’s work, and it would be massive.”
Referencing his ongoing legal feud with Paul, which was recently settled out of court, Hearn added that Joshua would not take it easy with the YouTuber.
“I know we have our back and forth, but Jake is improving as a fighter, and you have to respect the fact that he is dedicated not just to the business but to the hard graft of boxing.
“I still don’t think he is particularly good, but he is a decent, some [sort of] level fighter. At first, I thought Jake was just using these people’s names.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he thinks he has a chance against Anthony Joshua. There is a difference between fighting Gervonta Davis and even Canelo Alvarez and then fighting AJ.
“The other two you can get humiliated, schooled, and beaten up a little bit. The other one you can get fully decapitated.
“So you have to be careful and smart. I know you want the money and the big moments, but this isn’t a game.”
Paul, boxing’s most famous influencer boxer, last fought against Mike Tyson in November. He freely admitted carrying Tyson at 58 in one of the sport’s most lucrative money-making schemes.
The former Disney child actor will announce his next opponent soon.
