Chelsea keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi

Chelsea are contemplating making a summer move for Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi.

The Germany international, 23, was close to departing Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window. He was heavily linked with a move to Napoli; however, a deal didn’t materialise and the winger stayed put at Signal Iduna Park.

With a contract until 2027, a stay beyond the summer is entirely possible. But if Borussia Dortmund miss out on the Champions League, then the dynamics could change. Nonetheless, the Bundesliga club are reportedly willing to sell Karim Adeyemi at the end of the season and would look for offers in the region of £37m. The player, who has recently changed his agent and joined Roof Agency, is keen on a move to the Premier League amid interest from Chelsea.

Adeyemi has endured a poor season, majorly due to injury problems that sidelined him for more than two months. The 23-year-old has racked up seven goals and five assists in 22 games across all competitions. Despite those numbers, the German has struggled to bring consistency to his game as Dortmund continues to underperform in the Bundesliga.

Despite their massive spending spree in recent years, Chelsea are expected to be heavily involved in the transfer market once again in the forthcoming window. Enzo Maresca’s side have floundered since the turn of 2025—falling from potential title challengers to now fighting for a top four spot.

This prompts fresh concerns over their squad’s quality and depth. Having failed to create and score goals consistently this term, Chelsea will be looking to dip their toes in the transfer window for a new attacker. With Joao Felix currently out on loan at AC Milan and Mykhaylo Mudryk suspended by the club for off-field matters, the Blues could do well with signing a quality winger.

Karim Adeyemi, in that regard, would be a good fit at Stamford Bridge. A left-winger by trade, Adeyemi can operate on the opposite flank and through the middle as a No.9 as well when required, and such versatility should be enticing for Maresca. The Germany international is breathtakingly quick, more than capable of beating any player in 1v1 situation, while he’s also creative and can finish off chances.

While his stock has tumbled a bit in the last 15 to 18 months, the Munchen-born talent is still only 23 and has enough time to revive his career. A move to Chelsea could be beneficial as it will provide him with a new environment and a flexible system. if he joins, Adeyemi would bring competition for the likes of Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke next season.

As Dortmund are ready to accept offers in the ballpark of £37m at the end of the campaign, the Pensioners have to be all over Adeyemi’s signature.
