The 2026 Austrian Grand Prix had a weekend attendance of 320,000 – a new record for the Red Bull Ring and an increase of 20,000 on last year’s figure.
Formula 1 has announced a weekend attendance of 320,000 at the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix. George Russell claimed victory at the Red Bull Ring, taking his first win since the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. He was joined on the podium by Max Verstappen, with his best result of the season so far, and Kimi Antonelli, whose championship lead now stands at 40 points.
The sold-out race weekend also featured on-track action from F1 feeder series Formula 2 and Formula 3, plus the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The popular Red Bull Legends’ Parade also made a return, in which former F1 drivers – including Mark Webber, David Coulthard and Rubens Barrichello – took to the track in legendary F1 machinery.

320,000 Attend 2026 Austrian Grand Prix
When the Red Bull Ring returned to the Formula 1 calendar in 2014, it had a modest weekend attendance of under 150,000. As recently as 2017, the weekend attendance stood at 145,000 – a figure which has now more than doubled.
An attendance of 320,000 at the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix weekend marks an increase of 20,000 on last year’s figure. Figures at the Red Bull Ring had been in a slight decline in recent years, falling from 304,000 in 2023 to 302,000 in 2024 and 300,000 in 2025, but the latest figure has reversed the trend and set a new record attendance at the venue.
It is not public knowledge whether attendees at Thursday’s pit lane walk are counted as part of the overall weekend attendance. Other events, including the Australian and British Grands Prix, count fans who attended all four days of the event.
A reported 50% of attendees at the Austrian Grand Prix camped trackside at the Red Bull Ring at the various campsites around the circuit. Camping is a convenient accommodation option in Spielberg and can help keep the cost of attending the Austrian Grand Prix weekend down.
Record-Breaking British Grand Prix Attendance Expected
Silverstone is preparing for a record-breaking weekend attendance at the 2026 British Grand Prix, having expanded its capacity since last year’s event. The 2025 Silverstone race had a four-day attendance total of 500,000 – a figure which is expected to rise in 2026, mostly thanks to the expansion of the Landostand, which will have capacity for 20,000 fans per day this year.

The 2026 British Grand Prix is set to be the best-attended race weekend this season and could set a new record for the top-attended F1 weekend of all time. The previous record was set 31 years ago at the 1995 Australian Grand Prix. The final race held at the Adelaide circuit, the event had a four-day attendance figure of 520,000. Last year’s Silverstone race was the first since then to reach half a million attendees.
Overall attendance at the eight rounds of the Formula 1 season to date is estimated to sit at around 2.5 million. Last year’s overall attendance across 24 race weekends was a record 6.7 million. The cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix means that the number of races drops to 22 in 2026, which could make last year’s record difficult to beat. In recent years, races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabian have been among the lesser-attended of the year, making it feasible that increased attendances at other rounds of the season could offset the difference.
