Whoomp! There It Is.

Er, excuse me. Whoop! There it is.

The popular interface-less health tracker endorsed by the likes of Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas is receiving a major update.

Introducing Whoop 5.0. The new device looks nearly identical to its predecessor, but adds a few more measurements and tracking capabilities that are sure to make it one of the more useful health trackers on the planet.

As a user of the last version (Whoop 4.0), I can say that the insights I gathered from Whoop about my body gave me actionable data that, in turn, made me a healthier human being.

Whoop 5.0 aims to build upon that success with the addition of a few key features, including:

Healthspan with WHOOP Age: Gain insights and guidance on how your daily habits influence your long-term well-being with Healthspan. This innovative feature offers a method to quantify your physiological age and understand your Pace of Aging. Developed in collaboration with Dr. Eric Verdin, CEO of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, Healthspan utilizes 9 distinct metrics associated with long-term health to determine your WHOOP Age and Pace of Aging.

Heart Screener with ECG: Your heart health, readily accessible. WHOOP now integrates an FDA-cleared ECG capability, enabling you to take a reading conveniently from your wrist at any time and share it directly with your healthcare provider. The Heart Screener is designed to detect indicators of Atrial Fibrillation (Afib), a significant contributor to stroke, and also provides Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications (IHRN) for enhanced reassurance.

Blood Pressure Insights: Introducing a patent-pending technology that delivers daily blood pressure insights directly to your wrist. Receive estimated systolic and diastolic readings and gain knowledge about the impact of blood pressure on your overall well-being and performance.

Women’s Hormonal Insights: WHOOP extends beyond basic cycle tracking to provide scientifically supported education and personalized insights into how hormonal fluctuations affect recovery, sleep, stress, and performance. Whether you are experiencing menstruation, pregnancy, or perimenopause, WHOOP adjusts to provide relevant information and support.

So, what does that all mean?

If you’re like me, you probably wonder why tf you should care about this stuff. The answer is simple. Better data equals a better you. Well, maybe.

As with anything, you have to do your part. But with hundreds of helpful datapoints at your fingertips (or on your wrist) thanks to Whoop, finding little ways to improve your fitness doesn’t seem so daunting.

Last year, I used Whoop to help me get back into lifting heavy weights, which in turn helped me gain nearly 15 MPH in swing speed.

If you’re willing to put in the work, Whoop works. If you aren’t, you’re better of wearing a Timex on your wrist.

You can shop the new Whoop 5.0 now.
