‘Video game stats’: Basketball fans react to Wembanyama’s Game 1 heroics

If there weren’t already plenty of reasons to marvel at Victor Wembanyama’s brilliance, the French phenom gave fans some more.

The San Antonio Spurs star powered his team past the defending-champion Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday after racking up 41 points, 24 rebounds and three blocks in a double-overtime victory.

Wembanyama was the fourth player to log a 40-point, 20-rebound game in a Conference Finals matchup, joining Charles Barkley, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Moses Malone as the only others to do so. And of that group, the 22-year-old Wembanyama was the youngest.
