With the 2026 MLB Draft in the rearview, many organizations are looking to add more talent as undrafted free agents.
Undrafted free agents can sign deals up to $150,000, so organizations typically target players who either have graduated or have one year of school remaining. Due to the new NCAA rule that grants college athletes five years of eligibility over five seasons, many undrafted free agents still have at least one year of eligibility remaining.
A team’s undrafted free agents often start their respective careers at the same minor league affiliate as the players who get drafted in the same season. So, theoretically, they compete on a level playing field for roster spots and promotions.
Here’s a look at seven New England prospects who have signed as undrafted free agents.
