Another year, another trip to the Division 3 College World Series for Endicott.
As he sat next to senior pitcher Evan Scully (Maynard, Mass.) and shortstop TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) in last Saturday’s Super Regional-winning press conference at Salve Regina, even Gulls coach Bryan Haley (Hartford, Mass.) couldn’t wrap his head around the accomplishment.
“We knew (the series) was going to be a fight all the way, and it felt like a fight until the end,” Haley said. “I’m extremely proud of what these guys did. I can’t even fathom the fact that we’re going to a fourth World Series and that (the senior class has) done it four times in a row.
“I know that as we move forward, we’ll be just as excited as we were (last weekend) to play and just keep playing the kids’ game that we’re playing,” the 19th-year skipper added.
In their return to Eastlake, Ohio, the Gulls will look to make more history after last year’s club won a pair of World Series games to reach the national semifinal round for the first time.
Here’s a look at the Gulls’ road to the World Series and what lies ahead:
