Former Florida State basketball standout Malique Ewin is headed to the Big Ten for the next chapter of his college basketball career. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, the Arkansas Razorbacks transfer has committed to the Oregon Ducks, marking the next stop in a winding collegiate career that has included Ole Miss, South Plains College, Florida State and Arkansas.
While Ewin has worn several uniforms over the past few years, it was his lone season in Tallahassee that transformed him into one of the ACC’s top frontcourt players and one of the nation’s most coveted transfer portal prospects.

After beginning his career at Ole Miss and spending the 2023-24 season at South Plains College, Ewin arrived in Tallahassee ahead of the 2024-25 season. He quickly became one of Leonard Hamilton’s most reliable players during the Hall of Fame coach’s final year leading the Seminoles.
Ewin started all 30 games he appeared in, averaging 14.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting 59.6% from the field. He posted 10 double-doubles, ranked among the ACC leaders in field-goal percentage, and emerged as Florida State’s primary interior scoring threat. His efficient play around the basket and consistent production made him one of the conference’s top breakout performers.
The 6-foot-11 forward was one of the bright spots during Hamilton’s final season, showcasing the physicality, touch and rebounding ability that made him a difficult matchup throughout ACC play. His success in Tallahassee dramatically elevated his stock after just one season back at the high-major level following his standout junior college campaign.
Following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season and Florida State’s coaching transition, Ewin entered the transfer portal and ultimately signed with Arkansas, where he spent the 2025-26 season before once again testing the transfer market. On Monday, he found his next home by committing to Dana Altman’s Oregon program.

As Ewin prepares for another fresh start in Eugene, Florida State fans can look back on his 2024-25 campaign as one of the bright spots of Hamilton’s final season, one that helped cement his reputation as a high-major difference-maker and positioned him for continued opportunities at the highest level of college basketball.
