As if overtime isn’t thrilling enough, let’s add a buzzer beater. Ole Miss escaped No. 21 Georgia in a thrilling overtime win in Athens Wednesday night.

With the game tied at 95 and just 10 seconds remaining in overtime, Aj Storr’s driving attempt was tipped off the backboard and fell into the hands of Patton Pinkins, who quickly put the ball back up to lift the Rebels to a 97-95 win over No. 21 Georgia.

Georgia entered the matchup looking for revenge after last season’s loss to Ole Miss, but it was the Rebels who delivered the final bow.

The contest was tightly contested throughout, featuring 16 ties. Georgia forced overtime after Storr converted a layup with 17 seconds left in regulation and the Bulldogs failed to answer, sending the game locked at 87.

In a back-and-forth extra period, Georgia’s Marcus Millinder made one of two free throws with 10 seconds on the clock, with the game tied once again at 95.

Aj Storr hauled down to the other end, the shot falling just short before Pinkins would secure the ball for the game-winning shot.

This win marked Ole Miss’s first over a ranked opponent this season. The Rebels last did so against No. 14 Iowa State in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, with their most recent road ranked win coming at No. 4 Alabama last season.

Ole Miss heads to Starkville, Mississippi on Saturday, Jan. 17 looking to extend their game-winning streak, while Georgia stays at home, focusing on adjustments before they invite No. 17 Arizona to Athens on Saturday.

Texas ends No. 10 Vanderbilt’s unbeaten run

What a wild night in college hoops. The only unbeaten team in the SEC, took its first loss as the Texas Longhorns knocked off No. 10 Vanderbilt

Coming off a massive road win in Tuscaloosa, Texas carried the right mindset going into its matchup against the Commodores.

The Longhorns controlled the game for most of the night, taking a 42-37 lead into halftime while shooting 8-of-15 from 3-point range and committing just five turnovers. Vanderbilt took advantage of some of Texas’ mistakes early in the second half, but the Longhorns quickly regained momentum.

With a little over five minutes remaining, Texas pushed its lead to double-digits and never looked back, pulling away for an 80-64 win. Matas Vokietatis led the way with 22 points, Tramon Mark added 21, and Dailyn Swain finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Vanderbilt will travel back home to face the Florida Gators on Saturday, Jan. 17, while Texas stays at home to host in-state rival Texas A&M.

Okorie, Stanford adds another statement home beating No. 14 North Carolina

On Jan. 2, Stanford was on a high, claiming its first ranked win under coach Kyle Smith at home against then-No. 16 Louisville. Freshman star Ebuka Okorie headlined the show with 28 points, an unsurprising number for the guard that’s made ‘high scoring’ his middle name.

Wednesday night was déjà vu of that win, as the Cardinal downed No. 14 North Carolina, 95-90, in front of their court storming home crowd and behind another impressive statline by Okorie: 36 points, nine assists and one turnover.

His point total reflected the fast pace and elite shotmaking in Maples Pavilion. A back-and-forth battle, both teams shot over 55% from the field and had two players drop 20 or more points. Although neither squad held a bigger lead than six points with less than 10 minutes remaining, the difference maker was Stanford’s success from three.

The Cardinal shot 57% from deep, going 16-for-28, versus the Tar Heels’s 38%. And Stanford leaned on this late, so much so it became the weapon they used to silence North Carolina.

Trailing by two points with nearly a minute left, UNC guard Kyan Evans turned it over to set up guard Jeremy Dent-Smith’s triple on the right wing to give the Cardinal a one-point lead. On the following possession, Stanford guard Ryan Agarwal stole the ball from forward Caleb Wilson, and knocked down the dagger-like three.

The home crowd lost it. The duo hit the Cardinal’s ninth and tenth threes of the half, capping off a 7-0 run and lifted them to victory.

After a couple of rough losses early in the season, Stanford bounced back after its loss to No. 23 Virginia. North Carolina has now given up 97, 95 and 84 points in its last three matchups.
