Cam Coleman’s transfer to Texas gives Arch Manning the legit WR1

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning may have found a new roommate.

Manning’s former roommate, wide receiver Parker Livingstone, confirmed that he plans to transfer from Texas to the Oklahoma Sooners. The QB should give Livingstone’s old bed to WR Cam Coleman, his new No. 1 target.

On Sunday, Coleman confirmed he plans to transfer from the Auburn Tigers to Texas (h/t On3). He should immediately upgrade the Longhorns passing attack, which left meat on the bone in its first season with Manning as the full-time starter.

How Cam Coleman’s transfer benefits Arch Manning

ESPN’s Max Olson rated Coleman as the No. 2 player in the transfer portal behind former Cincinnati Bearcats QB Brendan Sorsby (now with the Texas Tech Red Raiders).

“Coleman is one of the most talented receivers in the country with one of the best highlight reels, and he averaged 14 yards per catch over his two seasons,” ESPN/The Ringer contributor Steve Muench wrote of Coleman in Olson’s article. “He drops some passes and can be more consistent in this area, but he’s a big target with acrobatic body control and the ability to come down with contested circus catches.”

A wideout who can stretch the field could help Manning maximize his ability to throw the deep ball. In 2025, the QB completed a slightly below-average 61.4 percent of his passes for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdown passes and seven interceptions. However, he didn’t let it fly much.

Manning averaged 7.8 yards per pass attempt in 2025 after logging 10.4 in 2024. The drop-off tied to personnel changes. Star WR Matthew Golden — who tallied a team-leading 987 receiving yards on 58 receptions in 2024 — left for the NFL last offseason. (The Green Bay Packers took him with pick No. 23 in the 2025 NFL Draft.) Texas never found a true replacement.

WR Ryan Wingo led the Longhorns in receiving yards, with 834 in 13 games, but he did most of his damage after the catch. Pro Football Focus credited him with 447 yards after the catch, tied for 24th in the FBS.

DeAndre Moore Jr. (532) and Livingstone (516) finished second and third on the team in receiving yards, respectively. Moore has also transferred but hasn’t committed to a school. Coleman’s transfer could make their departures addition by subtraction.

The WR had 56 receptions for 708 yards and five TD catches in 2025, despite playing with three QBs (Jackson Arnold, Ashton Daniels and Deuce Knight).

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian should make Coleman and Manning room together so they can bond. If they do, the QB-WR tandem could produce fireworks in 2026, which would help Texas return to the College Football Playoff after a 10-3 2025 season.
