Cam Ward sends bold message to Miami QB Carson Beck

Cam Ward knows what it means to be the quarterback of the Miami Hurricanes. He also knows the success that could come from it.

Ward threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns with seven interceptions this past season for the Hurricanes while earning the right to be a Heisman Trophy finalist at the end of the season.

He’s now just weeks away from potentially earning the right to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and it’s all because of what he did at Miami under head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson.

So, what is his advice to the new Miami quarterback Carson Beck? Just let it happen. It’s easy in Miami.

“Don’t really look at the stat sheet and what I did this year, because at the end of the day, it wasn’t hard. I mean, you’re talking about a quarterback playing in a coach Dawson offense, you should at least throw 30 touchdowns a year. The previous record was 20-something,” Ward said when asked what advice he’d give to Beck at his pro day press conference (h/t On3).

Ward believes that Beck can break records in Miami’s system. He’s clearly a believer in both Cristobal and Dawson. Ultimatly, though, the outgoing quarterback believes it’s important for his replacement to just play ball and be who he is.

“I think the biggest thing that I would tell Carson is just be himself, and try to win games at the end of the day. They can talk bad (as much as) they want about you, but if you win games you got the one up on them,” Ward said.

Beck is no stranger to winning games and big moments. He was Georgia’s starter in 2023 and 2024 and he was a part of two championship teams as a backup. He should be just fine at Miami.
