While we wait for real football to begin with fall camp opening up next week for the Colorado Buffaloes, we are having some fun with our season preview work using ChatGPT to simulate Colorado’s 2026 season. It was a fascinating exercise that offered a different angle into how the 2026 season might play out.
In the simulation, we asked the AI model to identify the Buffs’ statistical leaders and what it predicted for quarterback Julian Lewis, which should get all Colorado fans excited.

ChatGPT believes Lewis will have a breakout year with 3,318 passing yards, 286 rushing yards, 31 total touchdowns and 12 total turnovers. That type of production would certainly make Lewis one of the top signal-callers in the Big 12 and one of the more promising quarterbacks in college football. The output is optimistic for sure, but it would not be terribly surprising to see Lewis hit those marks because he has that ceiling.
The hypothetical stats earned Lewis All-Big 12 honorable mention and a Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year finalist, along with Freshman All-America honorable mention. These accolades would have Lewis entering the 2027 season as one of college football’s top quarterbacks.
It is only an AI prediction that could very likely be incorrect by the time the season ends. But it does underscore the immense potential that Lewis holds, and Brennan Marion’s Go-Go offense should only help unleash his talent.
