Georgia Football Star Arrested On Serious Charges (1:06)

The Miami Hurricanes received an update on linebacker Adarius Hayes on Monday after the freshman was involved in a horrifying two-car crash that left three dead and at least another two injured.

The accident happened over the weekend in Hayes’ hometown of Largo, Florida when his Dodge Durango collided with a Kia Soul — killing a 78-year-old woman and two children ages 10 and four.

No citations or charges have been filed as of right now, but an investigation is reportedly ongoing.

Hayes, who was hospitalized following the crash, has since been released per the university.

“We are aware of a car crash that occurred on the afternoon of May 10 in Largo, Fla., involving student-athlete Adarius Hayes,” the Hurricanes said in a statement. “Adarius was hospitalized and released, and we are currently working to gather more information.”

“We are deeply saddened to learn the crash resulted in three fatalities, as confirmed by Largo Police, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those lost.”

Hayes was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and appeared in 12 games last season for 10-3 Miami — totaling four tackles, a pass deflection and an interception as a special teamer and reserve LB.

Largo Police say “there were no signs of impairment with either driver of the vehicles,” but it’s still a situation that has affected multiple families and their loved ones.

The extent of Hayes’ injuries are unknown at this time. He’s set to go into his sophomore year with the Canes after being ranked as the No. 8 linebacker in the 2024 class.
