Jeremiyah Love sets a Notre Dame record vs. USC dating back to 1930

Jeremiyah Love’s 228 rushing yards today are the most a @NDFootball player has rushed for in a single game in Notre Dame Stadium history.

The Irish have played 512 games in The House That Rockne Built since 1930, including tonight’s 34-24 victory over Southern Cal.

It was quite the night for Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, as he rushed for a career-high 228-yards in a win over USC on Saturday night.

The Irish junior dominated from start to finish, as the Trojans had no answer when he had the ball in his hands. It was a massive effort from Love, one that was a record in Notre Dame Stadium according to Notre Dame PR’s social media account. Since it opened in 1930, 95-years ago, Love not sits at the top of the single-game rushing board leaders.

There has been a total of 512 total games played in the stadium, and now no other running back has ever rushed for as many yards in a single-game as Love has. It’s just another accomplishment in what is shaping up to be one filled with other accolades. If this sort of output continues, Love very well could see himself in contention to win the Heisman Trophy or the Doak Walker.

Unfortunately, this most likely is the last season we’ll see Love in South Bend, as he’s draft eligible, and it makes sense for players at his position to leave early. If he does move on, he will be missed, but there are more than a few great memories between the two.
