Kentucky QB Kenny Minchey has extremely highly expectations for WR DJ Miller

Wideout DJ Miller is heading into only his sophomore season for the Kentucky Wildcats, but there’s an expectation in Lexington that he’s going to play a major role in 2026.

In fact, starting quarterback Kenny Minchey did not hold back recently when he was asked to name his pick for a “breakout” candidate at Kentucky.

Speaking at the Manning Passing Academy, Minchey was unflinching in his praise of Miller.

“He’s the best receiver in the country,” Minchey said, per Roto Baller. “He’s very athletic. His tenacity and his size.”

That’s strong praise from Miller, but it’s not considering the competition.

No serious analyst would put Miller ahead of wideouts like Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith or Miami’s Malachi Toney, at least at this point of the offseason.

There is reason to believe that Miller can be quite the player for the Wildcats in 2026, though.

As a true freshman coming out of St. Louis, Missouri, he saw limited action but made the most of his opportunities on the field.

Miller caught 13 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 13.5 yards per catch.

DJ Miller flashed elite ability for Kentucky Wildcats

Both of Miller’s touchdowns came in a Kentucky loss to No. 17 Tennessee.

The first TD was a first-half wheel route that he executed perfectly for a 56-yard score. Many of those yards came after the catch, but the route was pristine.
