One can never have too many quarterbacks, and in that spirit, Lane Kiffin has added a new face to the quarterback room at LSU via the transfer portal. It’s a familiar name, too.
Kaden Martin, son of former Tennessee Volunteers national championship quarterback and current LSU offensive analyst Tee Martin, is transferring to LSU from MTSU. The news broke via On3 on Friday, and Kaden reposted On3’s announcement about the move.
Kaden marks the fourth new quarterback that Kiffin has added to his new roster. He was a three-star recruit from Buford High School in Georgia and inked with Miami as a multi-sport athlete in 2022, also playing baseball for the school.
During his freshman year at Miami, Kiffin appeared in two games with the baseball team but didn’t play football. He actually hasn’t appeared in a college football game to date. Now, he’s part of a jam-packed quarterback roster at LSU.
Tee Martin’s son, Kaden, is making his own waves in the SEC world
Tee is a big name in the SEC world. He served as Peyton Manning’s backup quarterback for two seasons at Tennessee, and then, when he took over the main quarterback role, he led Tennessee to a 13-0 record, including a Fiesta Bowl win over Florida State in the first-ever BCS National Championship.
Now, Tee is an offensive analyst for Kiffin, so there’s going to be father-son action here.
Kiffin’s main quarterback for the 2026 season is expected to be former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt, so long as he stays healthy after recovering from a foot surgery. The other two quarterbacks on Kiffin’s roster include former USC quarterback Husan Longstreet and Elon transfer and 2025 CAA Co-Offensive Rookie of the Year Landen Clark.
