Where They Are Now- Former ESPN Personalities (1:16)

Football fans are celebrating longtime “College GameDay” analyst Lee Corso this Thursday.

Corso has been on “College GameDay” since the show’s inception in 1987, providing sharp commentary and hilarious jabs. In October 1996, he made his first headgear pick at Ohio State. That turned out to be the best move of his broadcasting career. Since that moment in Columbus, headgear picks have been the most popular segment on “College GameDay.”

Unfortunately, the time has come for Corso to ride off into the sunset. His final episode of “College GameDay” will be on Aug. 30. He’ll get to preview an incredible matchup between Texas and Ohio State.

“ESPN has been exceptionally generous to me, especially these past few years,” Corso said in April. “They accommodated me and supported me, as did my colleagues in the early days of College GameDay. Special thanks to Kirk Herbstreit for his friendship and encouragement. And lest I forget, the fans … truly a blessing to share this with them. ESPN gave me this wonderful opportunity and provided me the support to ensure success. I am genuinely grateful.”

Although we’re still a few weeks away from Corso’s final show, fans are already giving him a standing ovation this Thursday. That’s because he has officially turned 90 years old.

On Thursday morning, the official X account for the Indiana Hoosiers posted this message: “Happy birthday, Coach Corso!” He coached Indiana’s football program from 1973-1982, winning 41 games during that stretch.

After Indiana posted this tribute on social media, fans congratulated Corso on this personal milestone.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LEE CORSO!! Lee is 90 years old today and I cannot imagine College Football without him. This season will be bittersweet, but I’m praying that he knows he’s loved,” one fan wrote on X.

“Wishing A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO’LC’ Lee Corso,” a second fan added.

“What a milestone,” another fan said. “Hope he has an awesome day.”

Corso truly is beloved by fans all over the country.

Happy 90th birthday, Coach Corso!
