Miami linebacker Adarius Hayes was injured in a car crash Saturday that killed three people, including two children, in his hometown of Largo, Florida, according to Largo Police.

The three who died as a result of the crash were all in a Kia Soul, which collided with a Dodge Durango being driven by Hayes on Saturday afternoon, police said. No tickets or criminal charges have been filed, though the investigation is continuing.

A 78-year-old woman who was driving the Kia has died, police said Sunday. There also were two children — 10-year-old Jabari Elijah Solomon and 4-year-old Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria — killed in the crash, both of them passengers in the Kia, police said.

Police officers responded to the crash around 1:45 p.m. ET Saturday. Police said the Dodge collided with the Kia, which was making a left turn. Police said alcohol isn’t believed to be a factor in the crash.

Another passenger of the Kia was hospitalized with serious injuries, police said. Hayes was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“This is an ongoing and active investigation, and no further information is available for release at this time,” Largo Police public information officer Megan Santo said in a statement distributed Sunday.

Several Miami players offered prayers for Hayes on X on Saturday, including linebacker Raul Aguirre.

Hayes played in 12 games for the Hurricanes as a freshman in 2024, mostly on special teams. He finished the season with four tackles and one interception, which he returned 25 yards in Miami’s 56-9 victory over Florida A&M on Sept. 7.

Largo is about 20 miles east of Tampa and about 15 miles north of St. Petersburg on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
