While Longhorns football is busy preparing for the 2026 campaign, the coaching staff has also been focused on building for the future. On Thursday, head coach Steve Sarkisian got an encouraging update. Three-star recruit Tyler Alexander has locked in his official visit for June 19th to 21st.
Currently, the Florida native is ranked as the 48th best defensive lineman in his class by 247Sports Composite. They also rank Alexander as the 39th-best player from the Sunshine State and the 406th-best player in the nation. That ranking could continue to rise as the Longhorns’ target has one year of high school eligibility remaining.
Although Texas would get a boost with Alexander in the mix, it still faces competition. He has received offers from Florida, Georgia, Auburn, and Colorado. The Palm Beach Central High star also has a visit set up with Florida in June before going to Austin.

During the 2025 campaign, Alexander impressed scouts by making life difficult for offensive coordinators. The talented defensive lineman recorded 46 tackles, including 20 for a loss. He also added 2.5 sacks to his resume as a junior and demonstrated the potential to be a very good player. That caught the eye of many programs, including the Longhorns.
If Alexander were to commit to Texas, he would be part of a 2027 class that is already receiving high grades. The Longhorns have secured commitments from four-star recruits such as Easton Royal, Cameron Hall, Derwin Fields, Karnell James, and Keyon Hemphill-Woods. They will be joined by three-star recruits JT Geraci, Cade Haug, Ty Knutson, and Jackson Cook.
For Texas, the key is to make Akexander an offer he can’t refuse. While they are already loaded on defense, adding a player of Alexander’s caliber would raise the ceiling of a talented group that is already making headlines.
