Ticket prices for Texas football games are outrageous

Everything is bigger in Texas, including the ticket prices for the Lone Star State’s flagship college football team.

Yahoo Sports partnered with ticket service Gametime on Thursday to share the five most expensive games for the upcoming season, which begins on Aug. 29. Three feature the Texas Longhorns.

Ticket prices for 2026 Texas games are outrageous

Texas plays in the three most expensive games this upcoming season. Note: These aren’t even the highest-priced seats. Gametime provided the median prices.

With that in mind, the numbers are even more ludicrous. Take a look below:

The prices of the Longhorns’ matchups against the Texas A&M Aggies (Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC) and Oklahoma Sooners (Oct. 10, TBD) are astounding but not surprising. Those are the school’s two biggest rivals, so demand for those games is high, allowing ticket vendors to jack up prices.

The home game against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sept. 12 (ABC, 7:30 p.m. ET) should also pique fans’ interest. Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith — who may be the best non-quarterback prospect in the 2027 NFL Draft — stars for the Buckeyes. Who wouldn’t want to see him go toe-to-toe against an SEC power?

Prices for the less anticipated Texas games remain steep for the common fan. As of Thursday, only one of the Longhorns’ 12 games this season has a lowest get-in price of $100 or less, a Sept. 19 home clash against the UTSA Roadrunners ($85). Eight of the 12 games have a lowest get-in price of $150 or more.

We guess that’s helping Texas pay QB Arch Manning, the nephew of Super Bowl champions Peyton and Eli and grandson of former Ole Miss Rebels standout Archie. His family name has helped him land numerous NIL (name, image and likeness) deals; consequently, he’s raking in the dough. On3 estimates his NIL valuation is $5.4M, No. 1 among college athletes.

Arch Manning’s new teammate, wide receiver Cam Coleman, is also making big bank. The former Auburn Tigers transfer ranks No. 8 in On3’s NIL database ($2.9M).

Arch Manning and Coleman better prosper for a Texas squad that’s expected to contend for a national title in 2026. Fans aren’t busting their wallets to see anything less than top performances from two of the biggest names in college football.
