Norfolk State used the Philadelphia Eagles indoor practice facility ahead of game vs. Delaware State at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday night
Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson are returning to the sidelines at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday night.
Back in June, Delaware State announced that it was moving its game against Norfolk State to the home of the Philadelphia Eagles. Jackson is now the head coach at Delaware State, and Vick is in his first season as the head coach of Norfolk State. Calling it “a potential paradigm shift for HBCU football,” Delaware State University Athletic Director Tony Tucker previously announced the matchup of first-year head coaches and NFL legends.
Vick was hired as Norfolk State’s head coach in December after the school fired coach Dawson Odums. A legendary quarterback, Vick played high school football in Newport News, Virginia, before playing at Virginia Tech.
Less than two weeks after Vick was hired at Norfolk State, the Hornets hired Jackson. Both players entered their collegiate careers at MEAC schools with little formal coaching experience.
Norfolk State (1-7, 0-1 MEAC) will enter the matchup following a tough 51-20 homecoming loss to South Carolina State. Delaware State (5-3, 1-0 MEAC) enters the contest riding a two-game winning streak into Thursday’s matchup, following victories over Southern Connecticut State (70-23) and North Carolina Central (35-26).
