It has officially been 1,000 days since Oklahoma last beat Oklahoma State in football.
That win came on November 19, 2022, when the Sooners secured a 28-13 victory in Norman. Dillon Gabriel threw for a pair of early touchdowns, Eric Gray rushed for 90 yards and a score, and Brent Venables earned his first Bedlam win as head coach. Oklahoma jumped out to a 28-0 lead before halftime, and the defense held strong despite a late push from Spencer Sanders and the Cowboys.
Since that night, Oklahoma hasn’t won another game in the rivalry. And for the foreseeable future, they won’t have the chance to.
The 2023 meeting in Stillwater marked the final scheduled Bedlam clash, and Oklahoma State took full advantage of the moment. Ollie Gordon ran for 137 yards and two scores, Alan Bowman managed the offense with veteran poise, and the Cowboys walked away with a 27-24 win that ended Oklahoma’s shot at a Big 12 Championship. It was the last chapter in a series that spanned over a century, and Oklahoma State got to close the book.
While Oklahoma still holds a wide lead in the all-time series, the current gap feels far more significant. The Sooners are now 0-1 in the rivalry under Venables since announcing their move to the SEC. Mike Gundy exits the rivalry with a final win, and the Cowboys get to hold the last word, possibly for decades.
There are no future Bedlam games scheduled. Unless something changes, Oklahoma State’s win in 2023 may stand as the final result in one of college football’s most heated rivalries.
And as of today, the streak stands at 1,000 days and counting.
