Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers nabbed a great prospect in the secondary, earning the commitment of Dylan Haley.

Haley announced his commitment to the program on Sunday, per On3 insider Hayes Fawcett. Hailing from Flowery Branch, Georgia, he chose the Volunteers over the Ole Miss Rebels, Florida Gators, and Auburn Tigers.

Haley stands out as a three-star defender with an 88 score on 247Sports. He ranks 55th among athletes and 84th among players from the state of Georgia. His composite score of 0.8789 puts him at 53rd, 84th, and 691st nationally in the 2027 class.

What’s next for Tennessee after landing Dylan Haley

It’s a great pickup for Josh Heupel and Tennessee to add to the 2027 class. Dylan Haley certainly adds value in the secondary, something that the Volunteers’ defense would greatly benefit from when he arrives in the future.

Tennessee has 10 other commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, defensive back Carter Jamison and defensive back Brandon Leavell, tight end Malik Howard and defensive lineman Christian Mays.

“While Haley is listed as an athlete, it appears Tennessee sees him as a cornerback. His primary recruiter is new cornerbacks coach Derek Jones, and he was also recruited by new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. He was also paid a visit by co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Anthony Poindexter,” Rocky Top Insider wrote upon the announcement.

Heupel prepares for Year 6 of his stint with the Volunteers. He boasts a 45-20 record, seeing the team go 24-16 in SEC matchups throughout his time with the program so far.

2025 was an intriguing season for the program. Tennessee finished with an 8-5 overall record, going 4-4 in conference play. This saw them finish at ninth place out of 16 teams in the SEC standings. They ended the season with a 30-28 loss to the Illinois Fighting Illini in the Music City Bowl.
